چکیده

Conventional Quality of Service (QoS) control techniques are designed for achieving network-level QoS objectives. Due to the large differences between network-level and application-level QoS properties, these techniques cannot provide desirable QoS for video users. Previous work has been conducted to design a packet scheduling approach where application requirements and network-level QoS objectives are addressed simultaneously. In this paper, the packet scheduling approach is integrated with a buffer management technique for increasing the numbers of video users with QoS satisfaction. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is demonstrated through simulations.

An Efficient Handoff and Buffer Management Scheme to Minimize Packet Loss Rate through Check-Point Retransmission in WiMAX 16m Networks

IEEE 802.16m standard redefined with many improvements on IEEE 802.16e standard to provide the best connectivity and to perform the error-free data transmission. In this paper we propose a buffer management system to reduce the packet loss rate during WiMax Communication where the internetworking involves designated distress regarding buffer range and traffic management. We evident that our pro...

Reliable Flow Control Coding in Low-Buffer Grid Networks

We consider a grid network where nodes contain small buffers. A packet that faces a crowded buffer in its route will get extra latency and may be dropped. In this paper, we propose a novel flow control protocol called RFCC for grid networks. RFCC tries to reroute delayed packets and utilizes network coding to introduce a configurable amount of redundant information in the network, thereby incre...

Fair bandwidth sharing and delay differentiation: Joint packet scheduling with buffer management

Packet delay and bandwidth are two important metrics for measuring quality of service (QoS) of Internet services. Traditionally, packet delay differentiation and fair bandwidth sharing are studied separately. In this paper, we first propose a generalized model for providing fair bandwidth sharing with delay differentiation, namely FBS-DD, at the same time. It essentially aims to provide multi-d...

JoBS: Joint Buffer Management and Scheduling for Differentiated Services

A novel algorithm, called JoBS (Joint Buffer Management and Scheduling), is presented for loss and delay differentiation of traffic classes in a packet network. JoBS has two unique capabilities: (1) JoBS makes scheduling and buffer management decisions in a single step, and (2) JoBS supports both relative and absolute QoS requirements of classes. The JoBS algorithm is presented in terms of the ...
